This is a classic Vail road bike ride up to the historic Camp Hale, where the legendary 10th Mountain Division trained for World War II. This ride consists of a consistent climb with a couple of breaks to catch your breath for 30 miles up into the high country. Gaining just OVER 3,000 feet you will feel this one. This is one of our favorite conditioning rides for some of the bigger rides like the Triple Bypass.
Do keep in mind that this route has almost no shoulder and as of 2024 the road is getting rough in several sections. So while this is a locals’ favorite we do only recommend it for roadies with experience on narrow roads.
DISTANCE: 41.6 MILES
