Self-Guided Vail Pass Bike Tours –  $90/pp

Private Guided Vail Pass Bike Tours – $160/pp

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure on the Vail Pass ride! This scenic, paved bike path takes you on a winding descent of 2,500 feet-offering jaw-dropping views at every turn.

Starting at 10,600 feet in elevation, this mostly downhill ride is an easy to moderate ride with just a few rolling hills. It’s the perfect mix of terrain, making it fun for riders of all ages and abilities.

 

The ride is approximately 15 miles from the top of Vail Pass to Vail Village (1.5–2 hours door-to-door) and 24 miles to Avon (2.5–3 hours).

 

TOUR TIMES & AVAILABILITY

Available 7 days a week, with departures from our Avon location at The Christie Lodge  at 10 AM and 1 PM, and from our Vail locations at 10 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM. 

 

We recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance to secure your preferred tour time. Same-day reservations may be accommodated based on availability.

 

TOUR DETAILS

  • Daily departures from Avon at 10 AM & 1 PM and from Vail at 10 AM, 12 PM & 2 PM.
  • Offered from May 23 through October (weather dependent).
  • The ride from the top of Vail Pass to Vail typically takes 1.5 – 1.75 hours, or 2 – 2.5 hours to Avon, depending on pace and experience.
  • Expect temperatures at the top of the pass to be up to 10°F cooler than in Vail.
  • All bikes provided are upright comfort cruisers, and the route stays entirely on paved paths – no off-road riding.

 

TERRAIN OVERVIEW

The path is primarily on paved bike path with small sections of road.

 

GEARING UP FOR THE BIKE ADVENTURE

  • Wear closed-toe shoes & comfortable clothes for biking.
  • Dress in layers – weather in Colorado can change quickly.
  • Wear sunscreen.
  • Bring any medication needed to make the trip safely.
  • Small pack for additional personal items – not necessary but good to have to carry extra layers, additional snacks & water you may want to bring.

 

RIDER REQUIREMENTS

It’s important that all participants are comfortable and capable of riding a bike. Riders should know how to shift gears and use hand brakes confidently.

The tour includes a descent of more than 2,500 feet in elevation, so a comfort level with downhill riding is essential. There are also a few short uphill sections that require basic climbing ability.

 

*Must be able to ride own bike and operate gears and hand brakes.  Trailer and e-bikes are not permitted on Vail Pass.
