Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our Colorado community during Stay at Home order we have slowed the spread of COVID-19 across our beautiful state. After a spike in April of cases here in Vail, Colorado we are now down to almost no cases being reported. This has allowed our state to move from Stay at Home to Safer at Home. This means that while the virus is steal a threat the state is now open with restrictions in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect those at the highest risk of catching this severe Illness.
Located in the very heart of the great Rocky Mountains our Avon and Vail bike shops are considered an essential business and have been open during the Stay at Home order. We were operating under all guidelines during this critical time and are now under Level 2 restriction we are now able to extend our bike tuning and bike rental services to locals and tourists alike.
While we are safer at home during this time with the transition to Level 2 we are starting to see some resemblance of “normal” life, here in Colorado. Non-critical businesses are now open with restrictions in addition to the critical businesses that are still operating. Everyone is encouraged so stay at home as much as possible but restrictions are now lifted on connecting with friends, loved ones and neighbors. While you are still encouraged to do so virtually when possible. It is still highly recommended to practice good hygiene at this time, including washing your hands thoroughly and frequently and not touching your face. According to state guidelines wearing a face mask when you leave home is also still recommended and required in some areas.
We are now expanding our curbside service and allowed to have our customers come into the bike shops. We are checking all employee’s temperature every morning and taking additional measures to regularly sanitize all common areas and bathrooms. All staff members are wearing masks and gloves when appropriate. We do ask all customers to adhere to the 6-foot distancing when possible and to avoid groups of 10 or more in the physical shops. We are taking measures to accommodate large groups, please contact us ahead of time for your groups bike needs.
Part of the Level 2 guidelines includes the “Vast, Great Outdoors” and here in Vail, Colorado we are blessed with this in abundance. Research is showing that the threat of the spread of COVID-19 could be less outdoors. We do know that the most common way for the new coronavirus to spread is when an infected person sneezes talks or coughs and droplets from then enter your nose or mouth and are inhaled into the lungs. In open air coronavirus particles tend to disperse more quickly than they do outside. So, while gatherings for concerts and events where people are in close contact are still not allowed, exercising and playing in the mountains where social distancing can be practiced is!
If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at the location of your choice. We are still offering bike rental delivery if you would prefer not to come into one of the shops. And of course we did get stocked up with the highest quality mountain bike rentals from Yeti and Giant and road bike rentals from Pinarello and Giant as well!
Venture Sports Avon and Vail Ski Shops are locally owned and operated and has been since 1991. We are not merely a link in a huge corporate chain. We do not answer to a bottom line of stock holders – instead, our customers’ total satisfaction is our bottom line.
