Bighorn Gravel Race Recap 2023

Bighorn Gravel is a unique gravel adventure in the heart of the Rockies, starting and ending in the rugged western town of Gypsum, Colorado.  This event is the brainchild of Mike Brumbaugh and Jake Wells, it has grown exponentially over the last year's inaugural event with over 500 participants.

Everything you love about gravel, and nothing you don’t.

In June 2023, gravel riders, families, friends, and spectators descended on Eagle County for a gravel experience like no other. It featured terrain and views that only Colorado High Country can offer.  The course challenged their fitness and skills as they climbed through the thin air of the Rockies.

The 85-mile Ram’s Horn Escape was a full serving of alpine gravel, featuring over 10,500 ft of climbing.

Epic single track, a hike-a-bike or two, rowdy descents that will had them begging for mercy, and some of the most fantastic scenery – its a perfect recipe for a great day on the bike.

85-Mile riders competed for more than $10,000 in cash split evenly between Women and Men!

The 50-mile Little Bighorn is no gimme – packing 6500 ft. of climbing into a relentless course.

Same views, same wild singletrack, and the same spirit of the West found in the long course, in a more manageable serving.

The 20-mile Gravel Curious was a great way to get your feet wet, featuring just enough gravel to entice them back for more. E-bikes were welcome, and the course was non-competitive.

The expo included a family friendly build up to the next day’s events, complete with live music, food trucks, beer, kids balance bike races and much more.

Huge thanks to Alpine Bank and The Town of Gypsum for their generous support and for helping us create this unique event. Thanks to their support, we’re able to offer onsite camping, complete with showers and bathrooms.
